THE AUSTRALIAN Electoral Commission has continued its recent clean-up of political registrations with the revocation of the Australian Sex Party’s federal party status.

In a statement online, the AEC said the party had failed to meet the minimum of 500 registered members required to registered as a party. The party was deregistered on Monday.

The party first stood a candidate, Ben Staggard, in the local federal seat of McMillan in 2013, achieving 2.31 per cent of the vote. (Click here to read more)

The deregistration comes after both the Australian Democrats and the Democratic Labour Party were both crossed from the books for the same reason last month.
