THE AUSTRALIAN Electoral Commission has announced the the deregistration of the Democratic Labour Party.
In a note on its website the AEC said the DLP had failed to demonstrate it had the required 500 members to maintain party status.
The Democrats party suffered the same setback just last week.

The DLP has been active in Australia since 1978 and still has one MP in the Victorian parliament.
The party stood a candidate, Andrew Kis-Rigo, in the local seat of McMillan at the 2013 federal election, only achieving 1.75 per cent of the vote.
The party changed the spelling of its name from Labor to Labour in 2013.
More to come.
